What is NHS Pay Rise 2022 - NHS Pay Rise Explained

Based on the recent announcement made by the UK government, England and Wales have been offered a 3% of pay rise and Scotland has been offered a 4% of pay increase

Below are pay uplifts for each band in England and Wales after a 3% pay rise

  • Band 1 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £18,005 up to £18,545.
  • Band 2 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £18,005 up to £18,545.
  • Band 3 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £19,737 up to £20,329.
  • Band 4 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £21,892 up to £22,549.
  • Band 5 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £21,892 up to £22,549.
  • Band 6 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £24,907 up to £25,654.
  • Band 7 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £31,365 up to £32,306.
  • Band 8 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £45,753 up to £47,126.
  • Band 9 NHS pay rise after 3% will be from £91,004 up to £93,734.

The pay uplifts for Scotland are 4%, Based on the uplifts the following analysis has been made. 

  • Band 1 to 4 NHS pay rise will be an uplift of £1,009
  • Band 5 to 7 NHS pay riseuplifts will be 4%
  • Band 8a to 8c pay rise uplifts will be 2%
  • Band 8d to 9 pay rise uplifts will be £800
